Grace Point Community Church (GPCC), Wetumpka, Alabama is searching for a visionary motivator, passionate for Jesus, bi-vocational Pastor to lead our church forward. Located in Central Alabama, Wetumpka offers small-town living with the convenience of being minutes away from the amenities of Montgomery, the Capitol of Alabama.  Wetumpka is located on the Coosa River in the foothills of the Appalachian mountain range with two area lakes in close proximity.  Elmore County is one of the fastest growth areas of the state.  Grace Point has a vision to boldly proclaim the uncompromised Word of God with love to the surrounding community as well as the entire world. 


Doctrinal Statement – Grace Point Community Church


Job Title: Pastor (bi-vocational)

 Pastor Reports To: Leadership Team


Purpose: The role of the Pastor is to join the Leadership Team in overseeing the life and direction of the church. The Pastor will have a firm grasp on the purpose, values and strategy of the church. He will work with the Leadership Team to align ordained staff, lay staff, key leadership volunteers and the church body with its mission.


  • A biblical studies degree preferred from a non-denominational Bible College or Seminary or Ordained by a ministerial organization with aligned doctrinal beliefs whose teaching and statement of faith aligns with the doctrinal statement of GPCC (Acts 20:28; Titus 1:5).
  • The individual’s personal beliefs must align with the doctrinal statement of GPCC.
  • Impeccable ministry and life references.
  • Strong preaching and teaching experience with an evangelistic focus.
  • Qualified to minister in the church as required in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
  • Have a track record of being effective in making disciples of others in his personal life and ministry (Matt 28:19).
  • Life should exhibit the fruit of the Spirit and an effective prayer life (Gal 5:22-23; James 5:16).
  • Prefer pastoral experience serving as the pastor, associate pastor or related role in a church body with aligned doctrinal beliefs.
  • Willingness to relocate in proximity to GPCC.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:


  1. Preaching and teaching: The Pastor will be the primary preacher/teacher for 2 worship services each week. The Pastor also will provide leadership in planning and executing the other programs in discipleship and ministry training, in coordination with other ordained and lay leaders.


  1. Strategic leadership and planning: The Pastor is responsible to interface with Leadership for strategic planning and staff coordination in the execution of the church’s purpose. The Pastor will:
  2. Coordinate/Lead staff meetings and other activities to clarify and execute goals and objectives.

  1. Monitor the spiritual pulse of the congregation through review and accountability.
  2. Ensure, along with Leadership, that staffing, facilities and programs are effectively aligned to meet strategic goals.


  1. Administration: The Pastor oversees and executes the administration of the church through appropriate staff and lay leadership teams, and ensures the completion of ministry, business, facility, and logistical support functions through staff and lay volunteers. He must:
  2. Oversee the pastoral care needs of the congregation and, as necessary, share with other ordained and lay ministers in hospital visitation, home visits, counseling, marriages, funerals, and other related functions.
  3. Supervise the Office Administrator and provide direction, as needed, for the effective functioning of office support functions.


  1. Staff supervision and development: The Pastor serves as director to ordained and lay staff and lay volunteers, and leads, evaluates, and mentors existing staff in their respective areas of ministry by:
  2. Overseeing staff training and development.
  3. Providing leadership to the pastoral staff in the design and implementation of all church ministries.
  4. Maintaining efficient and effective lines of communication between the staff, congregation and the

   Leadership Team.


  1. Evaluation: The Pastor will present monthly reports to the Leadership Team on ministry accomplishments and activities. The Leadership Team will conduct an annual performance evaluation.


  1. Weekly focus:

40%-50% Preaching/teaching duties and preparation

20% Discipleship activities

20% Pastoral Care/counseling

10%-20% Executive duties
